What I’ve learnt this Xmas…
Top 5:
- Too many movies and programmes on TV that I want to record!
- Having an HD- along side a HDR- FOX T2 allows you to watch TV or record a third channel if needed.
- Buying an external HDD before getting one as a present on Xmas day allows you to transfer recordings off the internal HDD as space runs out is a must.
- Transfering recordings (and decrypting) recordings off the HDR takes a very long time, and should be done way before the Xmas period.
- Having AVS Video Convertor to instantly turn a recorded programme to DVD is handy for visitors who don’t want to miss an episode of their soap fix!
However, if you’ve not done any of this then there’s always next Xmas, and of course it is not too late to prepare for the New Year…

I just got a Humax Fox T2 HDR, and I already have a Foxsat HDR, so I have a lot of .ts files from that box that play fine using VLC (well part from the encrypted HD ones), but I was surprised that my Fox will mount my hard drive, knows there are 4 media files on it, but won’t offer the files for playing.
It will offer up normal .avi and .mp4 files, so I am puzzled.
Heard anything about this?
Humax missed another trick here – making the (sidecar) file formats between the FOXSAT and FOX T2 slightly incompatible. You need to move the .hmt out of the way before the HDR-FOX T2 will see and playback the .ts files.
