I did this a while ago using Linux Mint and HumaxRW. You will need to remove the hard drive and use a USB to IDE adapter, mine is a StarTech device USB2SATAIDE but I guess there's cheaper ones on ebay. Also note that humaxRW does not normally work on a 64 bit Linux system but works fine on a 32 bit Linux system.

bobcoup - 1 hour ago »
I have an old PVR-9200T and I would like to copy some of the recordings from it.
I tried following the instructions here, http://www.andrewdsmith.plus.com/hummy/, but could not past the Run "qmake humaxGui.pro" stage.
I also tried humaxrw, https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/humaxrw, but could not get it to work.

My best guess is that your Ubuntu is a 64 bit distribution and you don't have the necessary 32 bit compatibility libraries installed. The Linux version of humaxrw is certainly 32 bit and something from 2006 is highly likely to be 32 bit.

Any advice on what method I should use would be greatly appreciated.

Humaxrw is probably quicker and easier but would need the IDE to USB adapter.

Also, currently I am attaching my Humax via USB cable to my Ubuntu desktop.
Would the better approach be to find a powered IDE to USB adapter? If so can anyome recommend a cheap one?

This type of adapter should do what you want https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384235394942?

When my T1010 died recently (temporarily, fortunately) I reactivated my old 9200T. This has had the clock problem occur several times in the past, but it turned on and worked perfectly after a long period of inaction. Maybe the clock track contamination can eventually be cured by cleaning the area over and over. I used Isopropyl alcohol the last time. If you still have your 9200T, this might give you hope <img src="https://myhumax.org/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":-)" class="bb_smilies" />

My 9200 is still in limited use but with no clock display at the moment. When I get round to cleaning the board I may install an earlier version of software as I think this will get rid of the annoying delay to remote commands.

That may be a problem due to the Forum moving to a new server. If you PM me your email address I can email you a copy.
