Why, when I am streaming my FVP5000T recordings to another room, do I get the error message "This File Type is Not Supported"? This is usually just after a playback has been interupted, & I try to play it again.
Sometimes, I can get it to play if I switch everything off, go through all the settings on my 5000, but only sometimes.
If the file was playable at first, why, at a later time, is it failing?

When streaming from the FVP5000, this LG TV will sometimes just stop the playback, & move onto the next recording! If I move back to the previous recording, it will sometimes work, sometimes display the "this file type is not supported" message.
Can't work it out.
It often "loses" the 5000 icon in Source. So does the Samsung TV in another room.

You should not assume that this message is accurate.
On my LG tv if I attempt to access a file on my NAS drive I can get this message but I think that it is down to a timing issue. i believe that the LG tv attempts to handshake with the NAS but can time out if the NAS is slow to come out of hibernation. I just get this message but the file plays OK at the 2nd attempt.
Your problem is not the same but could be a similar handshaking challenge.
I also find that my PC can “lose” the Aura icon in Windows Explorer.

I stream recordings from the FVP5000 in the lounge, to 2 other rooms. In one of them, a 42inch LG TV will occasionally stop the playback of a recording, then when you try to play it again, I get "this file type is not supported"
Tonight, I am getting this all of the time. It won't play anything. I've checked the tv, it says that the network is connected.
Why does this happen? I haven't had this message for the last three days when I have been in the other room. It has played everything.

It's just half hour or one hour programs.
The first time that I noticed the viewing time on that program, it was 50 minutes!
How come that it's the wrong file type after 50 minutes?

After watching a program streamed to another room, it will suddenly go back to the recorded programs after about half an hour. When I try to re-connect, our LG TV says "this file type not supported"
How come? I've been watching this program for half an hour!

How big is the file ? Perhaps the LG has the dreaded 4MB limit.

Misread your post, if you install the Custom Firmware on the Foxsat and the associated DLNA server you should be able to play unencrypted content (SD) directly from the Foxsat. HD recordings can't be played as they are encrypted on the Foxsat hard disk.

Hi
I transferred, via my network an unencrypted ts file (three bits) to my FVP 4000's download folder.
The file was visible, but when attempting to play it, nothing happens, no message either.
Am I correct in assuming it is not possible?

I believe this was covered a year ago.
Do not include the side car files from the foxsat.

I am reading that as the files you want to play are from the foxsat and you want to play them on the FVP-4000T.
The side car files between the two are slightly different but the FVP-4000T does not realise that and tries to play the ts file as if it is one of its own and fails.
Just give the FVP-4000T access to the ts file and hide the side car files from it.

It is possible, but you need a programme written by Raydon. to create the support files .hmt and .nts that the Foxsat needs to play back native content.
