Hello guys, I'm a new member. I have a FOXSAT-HDR connected to TV by scart (it's an old TV, no HDMI). For the last two days (since August 27th) I've been getting a "not available" error when trying to access some Freesat channels, including Food Network, Quest Red, HGTV. Many other channels like BBC, ITV, Quest HD work fine. After a bit of searching I read that the problem is likely due to a "mux change" which happened on the 27th and affected those channels among others. Can the problem be fixed by updating the firmware? If so, I don't know how to do that. Diagnostics screen says the last update was 2012. I'm not very techy, so all help appreciated! I'm in East Sussex UK.
PS: I did a manual re-scan of all channels but it didn't help. I also tried unplugging and rebooting.

I have had this machine for many years and it has been totally reliable. Switched it on and showing disc full and the remote does not work so I can't format the drive because it asks for the pin which I cannot input. Anyone any ideas ? I would like to reset/format via usb if possible but I do not want to take out the hard drive because of the difficulty involved..

Hi folks. I have managed to get the Foxsat-hdr connected to the ethernet, and it shows me an IP address. I can ping it from the laptop. Can anyone tell me how to connect with rlogin or mount, or at least ftp? Ideally I would like to run fsck on the hard drive to make sure it's not corrupted (there's a place where it hangs up on playback). It's old, but we're still happy with it!

Hi, I've just picked up an old Foxsat HDR to use in a second room as opposed to the Aura we watch most TV on. I have a couple of queries if anyone can help.

1. Not sure which firmware version is on it at the moment, haven't even plugged it in. Is there any advantage in upgrading it and if so where is the firmware available from? I don't think Humax have the firmware on their support page now.

2. I'd like to check if it can record 2 Freesat channels while watching a third but I'm not sure of the channel groupings to use for this, i.e. which channels are on different transponders. Does anyone have a handy list to point me in the right direction? I'm using a twin LNB with two cables attached and can easily find the satellite.

I have an old Humax Foxsat-HDR which has worked well for ages. A few days ago, I tried to playback some media content and found that only single recordings were available. All the series recordings were not listed, although from disc content were still there. How to sort this? If I factory reset, will I lose these series recordings?

About 2 years ago I bought a s/h Foxsat HDR for our elderly neighbour, here in The Dordogne, SW France.

I don't think the box has ever been working properly, but that might be down to Chris being confused. This time he really screwed it up and I have had a go at rescuing the situation. But I have only been partly successful. Here is the situation as best as I can remember.

Note that I call Chris our elderly neighbour; but that doesn't mean that I'm a youngster. To be specific, Chris is 81, I am 75. So a lot of the technical side of modern life is a bit of a mystery, to put it mildly.

I found his box working like this: Could receive about 8 TV channels, one or two radio channels; not recognising postcode; total inability to auto retune.

After some hunting on here (thanks, guys) and a couple of visits he now has all the TV and Radio channels (at least, I think he has all of them). BUT every channel has a '5000' type number. Not at all in sequence.
I went to manual tune, got up the transponder list. I did find ..426H but that showed zero strength/zero quality. After trial and error I did hit upon a VERTICAL transponder with good strength/quality and that did download all TV and radio channels OK, but all with 5000 numbers. Not in any sequence.

Chris has always turned his box off at night. We never do - and I guess this is why our box 'did it's own thing' when some change or other happened (earlier this year?).

I just had a thought - Since we are only about 300metres apart, I could check which transponder we are on here and then try the same transponder on his?

All of a sudden my remote controller stopped working, the red light flashes when you press buttons but nothing happens, I put new batteries in to no avail.
I then bought a replacement remote which worked for a few weeks and then did the same thing, that was replaced and after a few weeks that controller did the same,
Is this a controller problem or a box problem?
Problem is now, I have very limited control of the box manually so can't do factory resets or anything like that.
Anyone help with this? Or had the same problem

A few days ago, the menus on my Humax Foxsat-HDR suddenly started displaying "Out of index" on almost every field of the menus and displays although, not entirely surprisingly given the architecture of this device, all of the satellite channel data and other functionality is working properly. I'm (still) running Raydon's "Media and File Server Bundle for the Foxsat HDR" version 4.1.3 and the unit still boots up properly, displaying that on the front panel display whilst booting.

I found an old thread on here about the display of these messages on the same model so I was fairly convinced that re-flashing this firmware (I never delete anything from my hard drives if it might be useful at some time in the future!) would resolve this and I happily fired up a FAT32-formatted USB stick and successfully re-flashed the Humax.

Wrong! It's still exactly the same and despite a third re-flashing ("hope springs eternal") nothing has changed. Perhaps some aspect of date processing means that 4.1.3 will no longer work?
