I have had that happen to me in the past where the recordings were gone and came back. However in this instance, all my recordings are gone and the drive is full due to system information.

I did notice a few days before it happened that the TV programme descriptions had got a lot more detailed than before, pages of text instead of a sentence.

Something must have changed and introduced a bug in the older unsupported players.

I just had this happen to me this morning. All my recordings had disappeared (93% usage - 55hrs SD remaining). Switched it on and off a few times, still showing no recordings. I checked the drive contents using my laptop, still nothing showing.

I started the HDD test which apparently should only take a few minutes... 40 minutes later the test was still going. At this point I started to fear the worst. There was no way to stop the test using the remote and could not switch off the machine using the remote 'power' button so I just switched the unit off at the plug socket and left it for half an hour.

I have just switched it back on again and all my recordings are back.

I am going to have to speed up with watching all the drama series and documentaries I've recorded! Luckily I only ever record in SD so I'm copying anything I really don't want to lose to an external hard drive.

I'm sorry I don't have a more technical solution for you but I recommend having a look through the posts here - there is advice on other things you can try.

Hi there,
A week ago the Humax restarted itself and wiped all my recordings.
When checking the storage, the drive was saying it was 97% full, all down to System Usage.

Has anybody experienced this as well ?
Did you find a solution ?

I've rebooted several times but the result is the same.

I can re-format the drive of course but wanted to ask in case there was a magic way to get my 100s of recordings back.

I'm also curious how this could have happened in the first place.

Thanks for your time folks.
Graeme

Both of my HDR 1100s boxes which are a few years old have suddenly started displaying the same problem, when I select a watch from start program the boxes tell me that I need to be connected to the internet, which they already are by ethernet cable to the router, so I go along with it and hit the connect now and the message is then"you are now connected" so I then select an iPlayer and it says no connection. There is no problem with the router or internet.I also have a 4k TV Freesat box which did show a similar problem at the same time as the others but after going through the reconnect it works ok now. It's as though there has been some sort of update which has screwed that part of the controls up. Has anybody else experienced this problem?

Oops! It's fixed and the answer was simple. A restart of the router, (UK Vodafone), corrected it immediately. I really should have thought of that earlier. The router was not showing any other symptoms of a problem but had not been restarted for quite a long time. I think a regular scheduled restart may be advisable from here on in.

So for anyone else having this problem, a good starting point may be a restart of every piece of kit you have in your system to be sure it isn't just simple corruption somewhere in one of them.

Hi guys. For over a week now my On Demand has been out of order. I know this is a common issue and the "fixes" are usually to unplug power and restart from cold or to reset to default. I have done this - (so MANY times), and it does not correct it. I have a correctly reported static IP address, I have tried removing the network cable, waiting a few seconds then replacing it. The network always hooks up perfectly but without improvement.

If I access On Demand from the Home screen I am told it is loading and it should take 1 minute. Yeah? Well hours later it is apparently still going to take 1 minute. Humax seem to have discovered the secret of time dilation.

If I access it by bringing up the channel listing, selecting a channel with On Demand availability, BBC1 via iPlayer for example, and scrolling left a couple of times I get the buffering pinwheel coming up but that is totally static. It should be rotating of course but it just isn't and it never starts. I can't go any further left into the programme history.

It has only recently occurred. Everything was working fine until Dave became U&Dave or just U, I have no idea which is now correct, and I re-registered with them to be able to access it after its rebrand. There was no hint of any issue with the re-registration. That is probably a red herring and nothing to do with this issue but it was a coincidence.

Is anyone else having current problems with this service? Is there perhaps something going on with the servers which would cause this?

Hi, you can move your SD recordings onto a portable hard drive via the usb port. A drive such as a Western Digital My Passport would do, other manufacturer's products are available! Be aware that it's a slow process; the process is in the manual but I would try it with an unimportant recording first.

The smaller portable drives seem to be readily available on ebay at low prices, you need to be about the same size as the drive in your Humax or a bit smaller; judge it by the percentage of drive space left and go a bit bigger.

I often go to the Freeview website, find out what the UHF channels I need, then do a manual retune. For instance, mine are 21,24,27,30,40,43 & 46.
Before the Bilsdale Ariel burnt down, an automatic retune missed some channels. The new one is perfect!

I’ve had the Humax for a few years now and it's always been ok, so can’t imagine its all of a sudden become a signal issue.

Clive12 - 13 hours ago »
I’ve done a retune just a couple of days ago and it was working ok.

A possible cause of a signal would be your retune not tuning into the best transmitter, but tuning into a weaker, (or far stronger), one instead.

Clive12 - 10 hours ago »
I’ve no idea what sort of signal strength it’s receiving

To get an idea of the signal strength (and quality) your recorder has an inbuilt signal strength and quality meter. You will be able to see this via its menus. (Settings >> Channel Settings >> Signal Test)

I keep getting a message saying no signal

When that happens if you press the GUIDE button on your recorder's remote is the programme guide displayed?
