N0 im not aware of custom firmware as for apps i mean apps like you tube, bbc i player,netflix,my5 etc. the same that i have on my old humax youview box.

From that list of apps the only one that was available for the HDR-FOX T2 was iPlayer and that is no longer supported on the HDR-FOX T2. The HDR-FOX T2 is quite an old model that first became available in 2010. It is still a competent PVR but not for streaming.

For information on the custom firmware see https://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Main_Page for starters.

What apps were you hoping to use? Are you aware of the custom firmware for the HDR-FOX T2?

Welcome to the Forums. Do you have the recorder version (HDR) or the non-recorder (HD)?

I can't see your photo but it sounds like the capacitors in your PSU need replacing. I think there was a thread on the Forum some time ago about replacing these, but unfortunately I can't find it.

If you're handy with a soldering iron you could get the capacitor μF (micro farrad) ratings, buy them from somewhere like RS (https://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/?searchTerm=capacitors) and replace them yourself.

keble6 - 4 hours ago »
I volunteer at a repair non-profit. A customer has brought in a FOX T2 with no power. I've checked out the mains input and switch - all OK.
But where to go next?
The power supply board looks OK, except for the capacitors at the mains input end (see photo). Is that brown gunk intentional or not?
Is a circuit diagram available anywhere? (I have searched).
Any help would be much appreciated!

Try posting the question over at https://hummy.tv where there is more expertise on the HDR-FOX T2. Nobody outside Humax has circuit diagrams as far as I know.

I have copied them all off the T2 via USB to an external USB drive. I see some have a symbol next to them now, which i assume from what you say above means that they were HD and therefore still encrypted.

You might want to pop over to hummy.tv to find out how to deal with the HD recordings.
