Hi, just wondering if anyone has installed new software to a Humax Aura from usb. I'm getting all sorts of problems and wondered if software re-installation might fix things. I have programmes recorded and don't want to lose them.

I have had a few Humax boxes over the years and added the Aura model to improve usability.
I love the Aura despite its very buggy nature and overcome or live with most bugs.
I watch a lot of films 4K,HD and currently use a 2TB Kingston removable SSD on the USB 3 Port to play them back.
I prefer USB rather than streaming from my PC's as they are often off at night.

The issue is that since I started using the Aura via VLC to play films off my Patriot 1 Tb Rage pendrives both of them became unstable and were not being recognised by my Win 10 PC without effort and started behaving like they were USB 2 with 40mb/s transfer speeds.

I was a programmer in my working life so USB ejection is something I adhere to.
I recently switched to a new 2TB Kingston removable ssd and that very soon started showing odd behaviour on the PC's but not as serious.
All My USB sticks/drives are UASP and USB 3.1 compliant.
The pen-drives were about 50% full and after reformatting (NTFS preferred), then repartitioning and trying every trick I new to get tham back to normal.
They still work ok on the Aura and play films back.

I used to use my Panasonic dp-ub9000 which never had these issues over a number of years.
But the Aura USB play back and all its codec support and subs support on the Aura worked much better.

Is leaving the Pen-drive attached to the Aura causing damage even when its not running. I don't record from the Aura via USB just its internal HDD.
I don't use deep standby as it had start-up issues on my rig.
The second pendrive is only a month old and has not been "worn out" by file transfers.
So what is going on?

Hi. First time here, couldn't find anything relevant with a search, (I have looked), so new post is needed.

I have a HB1000S Freesat box which has worked perfectly for some years now. It has always had no trouble with its external USB HDD and ran timeshift and recording perfectly until the last few days. It now refuses to run the HDD and, if "run backwards" is selected, it gives an error message concerning the timeshift buffer currently being filled. It does that no matter how long you wait. The HDD LED is now fixed solidly on, which shows there is no disc access happening. If I eject the disc, disconnect, and reconnect I get a few seconds of continuous LED, about 18 flashes, then it just locks on again as it was.

I have swapped the cable. I have swapped the drive for another known good one also originally formatted by this HB1000S. The problem remains the same.

I checked software updates in case one had not installed correctly or if it had just installed a new version with a USB bug built in but I'm on version UKSFAC 3.01.01 from May '22 and this is what shows up on the Humax support page for download. I have even tried to reinstall manually from that download on a memory stick. The instructions say to hold down the "Channel Down button on the box" when switching on and there are NO buttons on the box other than the Standby. The box does not recognise the USB drive at startup to install from it. I cannot get it to reinstall manually from the Settings section as the file is the same version as is installed.

Can anyone suggest what is wrong here? Is the box now toasted? Am I missing something stupid?

I am trying to download mp4 video files from a web browser to a formatted 128Gb usb flash drive on my 2Tb Aura. I can download them to the Download folder on the Aura's internal RAM storage successfully, but the Aura's storage is limited so I'd like to then copy them to the usb drive using the app XPlore. However, it produces an error.

I can playback pre-existing MP4 files on the usb drive (using MX Player). Are the USB sockets on the Aura read-only.

HI,

New to the forum, and looking forward to your help. Please note I am not particularly technically minded…

We have just purchased a ‘Humax Aura 2TB 4K Ultra HD Smart Android Freeview Play TV Recorder’ to replace a ‘Humax HDR-FOX T2 500GB Freeview+ HD’.

We were / are very happy with the old unit, however the loss of iplayer combined with a fault on start-up (repeated cycles of on –off) led is to buy a new super dooper unit.

We wanted catch up TV, and the facility to copy from old Humax to new (via USB), as well as play .avi, .mp4, view images / play audio from USB

AND

copy from USB to the new hard drive.

Spent 24 hours copying those recordings we wanted to keep from the old unit, however we cannot access the USB on the new unit. If we go through assorted menus we find the USB is recognised, but no way of accessing / playing / copying the files.

There are other gripes / moans (the search facility is stupid and there is no ‘exit’ or ‘escape’ button’ from a function), but to date the copying / playing from USB of old FOX (none HD) files is the deal breaker.

How do we play from USB / copy from USB those files we copied of the old FOX device?

Looking forward to your answers.

Thanks,

JCC (John).

Hello,

These are probably 2 really easy questions but I just can't seem to work them out!
Is there a way to copy files from a USB stick to the Aura hard drive? I have tried various File Explorer apps but none of them seem to do the trick. They always come back with an error saying the file could not be copied.

Also, I'm having trouble connecting the Aura to Filezilla on my PC. I could do this fine on the 4000T but it seems to be eluding me on the Aura.

All help gratefully received.
Thank you very much.

Hi, I have a Humax 1100S HDR and want to move/copy some recordings to a USB stick/expansion drive to allow me to watch on another tv when I'm banished from the lounge <img src="https://myhumax.org/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":)" class="bb_smilies" /> However when I click Humax/videos although I can see both rives I can only see the content of my external drive not the internal content - except for one file I copied from the external drive. I have seen some comments that tend to say I can but another comment stating that copyright prevents me from completing this task. Advice please
