The remote for the 1800 seems to have been designed for some other gadget rather than a PVR; the relevant keys (and the most important, to do with playing) are placed at the top end of the unit, which is the furthest from the holding hand which would normally be near the bottom of the unit (in order not to obscure any keys).
This is, of course, OK if one is using the other hand to operate the top keys .....
Apparently some other Humax remotes are actually designed with these keys in the right place, the question is, would they work with the 1800 ?
    Any ideas?

Virtually all Humax remotes for kit produced after 2008 are interchangeable. For instance my Foxsat-Hdr remote will operate a HDR1000s or a HDR FOX T2 (and pretty much any modern Humax box as well).

Because they work all boxes, they are capable of being set to up to 6 different operating modes. This means you can use up to 6 different Humax boxes in the same room.
