Have just ordered an HDR2000t and am wondering about the DLNA capability.

Can you stream to any DLNA device from the Humax box? e.g. phone, tablet, PC etc?

How straightforward is the set up?

Assuming the newer box is the same as the HDR FOX T2, the recordings are encrypted so to watch them a DTCP-IP DLNA client is required. Copying SD recordings to USB will decrypt them. At a guess you will have to decrypt and upload the decrypted files to stream them to most kit. If you need the streaming capability a HDR FOX T2 (available at Humax Direct) and the Custom Firmware is a much easier option.

Setup is easy - all you need to do is turn on content sharing.

DTCP-IP is only applied to HD recordings on the HDR-FOX T2 and you can stream SD recordings to any DLNA compliant client.

Thanks, so can you stream SD recordings from the HDR2000t to any DLNA compliant client?

I like the idea of being able to watch something that I have recorded on the Humax, on a tablet in another room (e.g. in bed).

Perhaps using the Android remote at the same time (which presumably doesn't rely on infra red?)

    Is that possible?

    Yep - it's dead simple.

SD stream without needing decryption, but I think HD won't work.

I've got "skifta" on my phone, which detects the various DLNA sources on your network, and "MX Player"

No need in this case to use the Remote Control App, but FYI that also does work a treat for normal Hummy control

    1. (Capture2.jpg)Select the HDR media server
    2. (Screenshot_27.png)Select the Playback device (Phone in this case)
    3. (Screenshot_40.png)Select the Media to play (it will prompt you for the player: select MX Player

Excellent, thanks Geoffers. I can't wait to get it now (it's being delivered next week)
