I recently bought a DTR1000 from a well known auction site.
It's been working fine up until last weekend.
Recordings either fail or it only records a couple of minutes of the programmes.
Tonight for example, strictly recorded 47 seconds.
Looking at the recordings list now, It tells me Atlantis is recording but when I go to watch it, there is only 1 minute of the programme to watch.
I'm wondering if it's down to the recent software update?
    Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

    1. Touch the power button on the box for 8 seconds, which should cause it to do a soft reset.

    2. If that doesn't help, try a Maintenance Mode reset. Instructions at http://support.youview.com/articles/Self_Service_FAQ/How-do-I-perform-a-maintenance-mode-recovery-1370864319647

If still no joy, then if it was described as in working order when you bought it, you may want to contact the seller.

    Thanks JamesB.
It's recording something at the moment (and it looks to be recording the whole programme). It sometimes records OK e.g.: last night it recorded everything fine.
I've already done a maintenance mode reset. I'm wondering if it's an issue with the recent software update? as it seemed ok before.

Sorry, can't help on that as I no longer have the YouView box.

My son and I are both getting similar failed recordings, on two different units. Both started a few weeks ago.

Since this thread was started, it has become apparent that the recent major YouView update (the one that enabled HTML5, and hence Connected Red Button and NetFlix) seems to have caused some serious problems. There have been quite a number of reports of recordings failing after 3 minutes. No cause identified or fix in the pipeline as yet, though allegedly it's receiving attention. Not all boxes are affected, but it apparently occurs among all the (Humax) variants. Huawei boxes have not yet received the troublesome update.
