If I buy a Humaz HDR-1000S 500GB can I still record from it to my DVD recorder on to a DVD disk? Can anyone help please?

Hi welcome to the forum. You should be able to record using real time playback of recordings or from live TV, but most likely only in the lowest quality composite video quality. I think Humax have dropped the scart output socket from this model so the higher quality RGB output isn't available. This assumes your DVDR will record RGB.

If your DVD recorder supports recording the better quality RGB video, you can't get this from a HB1000S (You can from a HDR10x0S as these have a scart socket).

Thanks for you help. Cannot find a HDR10x0S do you mean HDR-1010S? I notice the HDR-1000S has a USB port but is it possible to copy to to it, or record to it?

). It's not possible to export/record recordings from either. To do that you would need to find a Foxsat-hdr. The usb port though can be used as a media player to playback video, music and jpeg photographs. With a Foxsat-hdr you would not need a DVDR. The same applies to the Freeview+ pvrs for SD recordings as these boxes will also export recordings to usb.

It looks as if nobody want me to use a DVD recorder from the tv even computers don't have them although mine does. I know Panasonic do have recorders with DVD drives but mostly linked to Freeview rather than Freesat

However these days most simply replay the content using a media player paired with a usb hard drive. You can get a 1TB usb drive for around £50.00 and it can hold hundreds of recordings. It's also portable, you can watch the recordings anywhere using a tablet PC or smartphone.
If you want to produce DVD's from suitable content it's relatively easy using free software.

Thank you so much for your help. It has given me some good ideas, although my I would still have a problem of recording directly from the tv to a DVD disk if I want to upgrade my Freest. You suggest flick for burning, but that is for Windows only. I have Burn which does the same for Mac maybe Windows too.

my cheaper Bush freesat recorder I can play the recorded video and transfer it to my Panasonic DVD recorder , I can also press the pause button on the DVD recorder to get rid of adverts
