We normally watch live TV without using the box. The PVR is for time-shift recording. But we find that if the PVR switches itself on prior to recording, it takes over the TV screen. By the time I have grabbed a remote and reclaimed the screen, we may have missed something vital in our programme. How can I stop this nuisance?

What make of tv do you have?

I expect there's a menu setting that makes the tv switch to an HDMI device when it's activated, that needs to be turned off.

Thank you for responding so quickly. Our TV is a Panasonic. I have disabled the Viera link and will see if this does the trick.

You might have to use a hdmi input other than HDMI1 in. Pannies often have a auto port selection on HDMI1 in that works with Viera link disabled.
