I have loads of ideas! But to narrow it down a bit ...

Which channels are these certain programmes on?

Also which channel numbers are listed when the following remote button presses are used?
MENU > Settings >System > Signal Detection > Press right next to the OK button.

When the programme is not recorded what appears in the Media list for the recording? If something does appear and it says that it has failed have you tried playing it anyway?

    Hi Luke,
    Thanks for your reply,
Channels not recording are BBC 1&BBC HD,
Channel 41 seems to be the strongest signal strength,
Just an empty 'file' box appears but it also deletes orange indicator on the guide whilst desired recording still appears under 'schedule' .
    Many thanks

    UPDATE.
Have done a factory reset(or whatever it's called) and turned off power saving on standby and things seem to be better?
    Fingers crossed.
