    Have you thought of an aerial spliier, it maybe a cheaper option...

    I tried an aerial splitter without much success. I will take everything apart and start from scratch and if no better I'll have a word with Humax support tomorrow. Thanks everyone.

    The thing about passive splitters is that the signal level is split as well. Pass through normally amplifies the signal slightly so that the levels in and out are equalised.
    You could try connecting the aerial to the 9200 first then loop to the HDR.
    Of course the quality of the cables can have an effect on signal quality, in particular the screening. Old braid screened coax should be replaced with braid and foil screened cable.

    Well I am not compaing like for like. I am using a TV amplifier with several outpouts. That works well as I have a coax extension from the front room to one bedroom and all the freeview channels appear there as well.
