Hi - I'm new on here and need some help please.

I've just acquired a Foxsat-HDR box from my dad, who used it via satellite dish. I don't have a dish and propose to have it connected via the internet. I have a friend who should be able to do that for me.

If we succeed, I wonder what programmes I'll get and what previous programmes I'll be able to access.

Please can someone tell me before we commence operations. I hope I can get exactly the same as I would via a dish!

    Many thanks.

You will get precisely nothing. You must have a dish, even with a dish you will get only iplayer and itv player catch up (no live IP streams).

    Welcome to our forum.

    Many thanks Graham.

Oh dear - I won't connect through the internet then!

I thought that a dish would give me all the freesat channels actually, perhaps I misunderstood your comment. I'm a layman and I don't know what a live IP stream is I'm afraid.

A dish will of course give you all the Freesat channels. What Graham is saying is that even with the dish you can only get via the Internet BBC IPlayer and ITV player.

IP - Internet Protocol. No way to watch live TV channels using an internet connection, even if you have a dish. You can watch virtually live on tablets and smart phones using apps.

Many thanks to both Graham and Martin for the further info.

A dish it will have to be!
