Volume control does not work for HD channels

When I go to a standard definition channel e.g. BBC1 south, the volume control on the Humax HDR works fine. However, if I now go to BBC HD or BBC1 HD, the Humax volume control becomes ineffective, which is extremely annoying!

Has anyone else had this issue. Is there any way to fix this apparent bug?

This is normal and has been much discussed. Do you listen using the TV sound or through an AV amp and speakers?

MENU Settings/TV Setup Dolby Digital - Off

This should let the remote volume control work with HD channels as well as SD

If you use an amplifier of course you won't then get 5.1 sound if present.

But if using an AV amp you would normally(?) always use the volume control on that.

Hey guys, thanks for the quick responses! I apologise if this has been discussed before, my initial search was obviously poor.

FYI, I listen to sound via the TV, not through an AV amp and speakers (I wish my room was big enough to do that!).

I'll set Dolby Digital to off, if that will fix the problem. Thanks for the info
