What size fan goes into 1000S

    I have just my 500GB 1000S from Humax and have bought m 2TB drive as well to do the upgrade but i was thinking while i have the unit open i may as well replace the stock fan with something a bit better, does anyone have any idea what size fan goes into the 1000S?

    Sorry to add something, i presume it's 140mm but unsure if there 10 or 20mm thick.

    Well it's definitely not 140mm unless yours looks like an old blue police box.

    Is there any need to change the fan. I've had a 2Tb WD AV in mine for ages and I don't recall ever hearing the fan !

    I'm very anal about noise etc, anyway i have my own 1000S now and the stock fan is in fact a 50x50x15 unit and the specs are as follows:
    Air Flow (CFM) 11.67
    Fan Speed (RPM) = 4300
    Noise Level (dBA) = 24

    Best option i could fine after a quick look was the following:
    Gelid Solutions Silent 5
    Air Flow (CFM) 12.9
    Fan Speed (RPM) = 4000
    Noise Level (dBA) = 23

    So it does push more air and with less noise but it's a fine line so i'm not going to bother right now, I have bunged the news 2TB (WD20EURX) in the machine now and will boot it up later and see how we go.
