    Hello.

This is a brand new box and when trying set it up on WIFI the following message appeared:-
THERE IS A PROBLEM. TRY AGAIN LATER.
many attempts were made, always with the same message response.

So it (& the WIFI dongle) were taken (far away) to another location and tried on that WIFI.
WIFI functionality was achieved and BBC i-Player worked just fine, but an on-screen message kept appearing saying that: the signal was too weak or not connected.

So the WIFI dongle was put into the tv and that also worked fine and the WIFI signal strength was showing as being just one bar down from the top!

So: two odd bits of behaviour from the Humax box; but, crucially, the box does not work at home!

Can anyone help with this please?

P.S: the WIFI router at home works fine with all the computers!

Which Wi-Fi dongle? It is known that the Humax only has the drivers that they use for their dongle.

Also known is that unusual characters or spaces in passwords can cause problem with accessing the network, I mention this as your test was probably with someone else's router and password.

How far from the router is the HDR-1000S? IS DHCP enabled on the router and is the HDRR-1000S set to connect automatically?
Is their any other electrical equipment within say 3 feet of the HDR-1000S?

Try using a usb extension cable to move the dongle to a better position. Often your box may be installed in a wireless deadspot moving it to a higher location may make a big difference.

The "Edimax EW-7711USN Wireless nLite High Gain USB Adapter" also works and is less expensive than the Humax, £11.86 on Amazon see here.

REPASSAC: The dongle was a humax one, but the tv was a Linsar.
You were right: after returning home and starting afresh, the essential fault did turn out to be the password having been (repeatedly) incorrectly entered.
However, as at the remote location, the reception was poor (despite an Android app on the mobile phone showing the wifi signal strength to be in the green zone) and the router had to be relocated to be closer to the box to achieve acceptable results.
(grahamlthompson: At the remote location the dongle was being used on the end of a USB extension that placed it within 6ft of the router which was on the floor above).
Thank you for your prompt attention.
