I am wanting to store all the recordings we want to keep on an external hard drive to free up the Humax. I understand it can take days to copy files over on a near full drive. Can anyone tell me the best, most efficient way of doing this (type of drive, powered etc ?) I will be looking at a 1 TB drive to store onto or several memory sticks which may be cheaper.

    Thanks

You are correct in stating usb transfer is by no means fast.

I would discount memory sticks as:

    1. They might not work, have not tried myself.
    2. You might need a number of them, easier to store 1 HDD.

Portable - WD Passport HDD, I have used them on different Humax products.

If you're planning eventually just to play them back by transferring them back to the Humax, I believe FTP is an option.
