As an experiment, can you try connecting the box via the analogue connection to a scart socket on the TV ? Does that allow the box to boot from sby (if recording, if 15 mins prior to recording accurate/series recording and if in full sby). That would rule out HDMI control issues.

OK, I'll need to buy a cable so this won't be an instant fix, but once it arrives I'll give it a go. Is this what I want?

    Or one of these

    https://blusas.co.uk/mho.php?loc=https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001QWU55G/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_2?pf_rd_p=569136327&tag=blusas008-21&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000L1LY58&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=7H2ZSY9N3HFN3QMMJT46

    and 3 phono cables.

The link you provided doesn't say if it's video/audio in to the scart or vice versa.

Hi everyone. I just bought my humax 4000t this week and sorry to say but I'm also having the same problems switching it on. Only way to get it to start up is to unplug it which is very frustrating i.e. hands and knees job.
I've just done what was suggested and turned off the network server so let’s see how it goes. Must admit its only when its left off overnight that it wont start up i.e. if you switch it off for a few hours during the day it will start up ok no problems.
I should have heeded the warnings from the customer reviews but they also seemed to suggest that the software upgrade had resolved many of these problems.
Let’s hope they do another one very soon.

Hi everyone for responding to my initial posting. Thanks for your suggestions. I have turned off the network server and for the last week it has been turning on ok. However being an intermittent problem in the past I will have to wait and see!

Firstly I am not technical! I have a FVP 4000T only about a year old. It has worked fine until lately when it will not turn on from standby. The only remedy is to turn it off at the mains and start again. Surely this is a fault? Any help much appreciated.

I have had the same problem since I first bought mine about 2 weeks ago so it sounds like its to do with the recent update which it installed as soon as I plugged it in, I have gotten round it by having the timer turn it on in the morning, this seems to work at the moment, it shouldnt have to be done this way but it works for now, as the rest seems fine

You do need the internet connected at all times. If you switch your router off at night (as I used to) then the Humax will not start in the morning. This behavior seems worse since the latest software update.

In May I went away for 2 weeks and switched the router off but left the Humax to record. When I came home the Humax was locked up - which I expected, but it had recorded the first 5 days of programs then all the subsequent programs had zero length!

I have had Humax products for years with few problems, but the new FVP-4000T I bought 8 weeks ago is awful. Constant failure to start up is driving me mad. I have turned the power on and off, sometimes worked, disconnected the HDMI, sometimes worked, Reset to factory settings and reset, sometimes worked. But now it won't start at all. My retailler is not interested and Humax don't work weekends. The product is junk. How do I force it to start, or have I wasted £200 and best putting it in the bin?

Brian H. Humax is beta testing new update OS, can't say any more but there are a number of improvments. Beta testing takes awhile to see if further bugs need attention.
