Hi
My first post.
I have a problem with a receiver I have just bought, my old one had one too.
It will only find freesat channels with a manual tune and then the channel numbers are all starting with 5000. This makes looking for programmes to watch awkward.
It is an old model so I thinking that help for it might be scarce.
I probably also need to be more specific about it, but I will see if I get any response.

You must be running a non freesat tune. To retune in Freesat mode requires access to the Freesat home transponder which is a horizontally polarised transponder.

Guessing you only have verticals.

Easiest first action is replace the LNB. Other than that tell us which channels you can view in non freesat mode

Any of these. ignore the channel numbers - they only work in non freesat mode

I do not have a Foxsat-HD. If you press opt+ does it show the current transponder details like the Foxsat-HDR. If it does it will help a lot to sort this out.

In freesat mode the "Satellite 28.3E" is greyed out and then the STB reboots after a brief search
My old "Bush" STB works in Freesat mode from my dish, so that means my LNB is the correct polarisation.?
I don't fully understand how the channel number system works. I used to enter 101 and get BBC1 now in Non freesat mode BBC1 is obtained by typing 5027.
The lowest channel number I get is on the list is 5192 Quest+1

In order to setup the box in freesat mode you need to ensure you get reception from the Freesat Home transponder. In non freesat instead of transponder all scroll down the list to find and select 11426 H 27500 2/3. The frequency 11426 might be slightly different on your box.

At the bottom it should say the signal strength and quality that the box is getting. If it has no signal. Chances are your lnb has failed so not getting Horizontally Polarised channels.

I will try and get a photo of what you should see this afternoon.

I take it the box is the non recording Foxsat-HD and not the Foxsat-HDR that has a internal Hard Disk and can record.

And that you live in the UK ? If Europe you need to post your approx location.

Thank you I will look at the transponder input and signal strength,
If the old STB works in Freesat mode that proves that the LNB is working?
