I've just been sent an HDR 1010S for repair, which was occasionally missing recordings.

When I checked the capacitors on the mainboard I found that all 3 x 220uF @ 16V were out of specification for ESR, as well as 2 x 10uF @ 50V. All are surface mount.

I have replaced them, and so far all is well.

All the 100uF @ 16V SMD capacitors are still OK, so it suggests that the 220uF are of inferior quality. The through-hole caps are OK too.

I have the same model, so I expect I will be doing a similar repair on mine soon.

Thanks for this post. So far my first generation HDR-1000S has no issue despite being an early model.

I'm really tempting fate by posting this, but mine too is an early model and has not experienced any issues.

HDR 1010S in daily use, very early model - no issues.

Just been working out that my HDR 1000s will be 6 years old later in the year. Not bad service from Humax.

The one I repaired was a 2015 model.

I have the perception that the original models have proved to be more robust - touch wood.

I've been told that the link to the picture in the message above no longer works. Here is a fresh link.
