No reboots since factory reset/format.
Really wish we could have the choice to switch off automatic updates.

Hi All,
Just joined the forum to say I've been having issues with this recent update too. My issues don't seem to centre around reboots, possibly because we don't use the box enough to have it happen to us yet, but the main 2 issues are:
- Wifi dongle no longer working. Light on dongle comes on, but our Humax box doesn't recognise that a wifi dongle is present.
- Programs are only part recording. Over the past few days at least half our shows have only been part recorded. This is across different channels, so not restricted to just ITV or BBC.
I've tried reseting back to factory default, but no luck with dongle yet. Nothing has been scheduled to record since I did the reset, but will keep an eye on it.
Any help with the dongle would really be appreciated, as the box is a bit too far from the router to put a CAT5 cable down (unless we want it to run across the lounge floor and through the kitchen). Everything was working fine (apart from the odd lock up) before the update, so a bit miffed at the loss of internet access.
Many thanks!
Might the part-recordings be due to the box rebooting while recording, while you're not there to observe? Have you had any part-recordings since resetting?
What make of dongle?
Hi all, the only problem I had after the latest software update was the loss of the icons on the front of the unit. I contacted Humax about this as I do check on the recording icon when the unit is in standby although it is small it is a pointer to tell if the programme is recording. The response I got from Humax was they knew of this but unfortunately there is no fix for this. Sorry but I think this is wrong no matter how small the icons are.

Thanks for replying!
The dongle is an Edimax EW-7711UTn. I know this isn't the official adapter, but it cost me £5 on eBay when I bought the HDR1000S. The fact that the chipset is the same as the official dongle has meant it's worked great up until now. Would be a bit miffed if Humax are blocking all unofficial adapters from working. Interestingly though, I've just had a look on the Humax website and the latest version of the HDR1000S manual has dropped all mention of USB dongles. Still, it would be nice to know if anyone else has been experiencing issues and whether they've managed to resolve them.
I think you may be right about the recorded programs, watching live TV now since I got home from work and it cut out 3 times in the past hour, although one of those "black outs" came up with a "No signal received" message before restoring the image and sound about 10 seconds later.
Is there a way I could downgrade and stop the system automatically re-upgrading?
It's not a deliberate blocking of all unsupported dongles. See post #45 in this thread - Edimax 7711UMn has been tested and found to work. But evidently whatever changes have been implemented, seem to have had the effect of making some unsupported dongles no longer visible to the box. Bad luck, as this is unlikely to be changed in. future update.
If the dongle problm doesn't get sorted, you could use Powerline adapters.
There is no option to avoid automatic downloads, unfortunately.
No more re-boots, so far, since deleting the app link profile from 1000s fingers crossed.
I was just having a glance through the forum this evening when I stumbled upon this thread. I checked my 1000s and, lo and behold, it appears I have the new update. I'm not sure how long it's been there though.
No problems so far but, to be sure, I've taken the advice and performed a factory reset. I was impressed at how quickly the 1000s can be set up again after the reset. Even rescheduling the recordings didn't take too long.
Thanks for the heads up!

I may have spoken too soon about my box being fixed after I reset it.
It's been ok until this evening, when it has just rebooted again.
Update. Been using the reset box all evening to watch recordings and it is also recording other stuff in the background. No problems to report yet.
The clock has now fixed itself to BST.
Still missing channel 111 - ITV1-HD. Will this automatically be added once it sees it again overnight? Don't want to rescan again as will have to re-enter all the schedule again.
