I'm still getting these intermittant failures to record. Another one last night on BBC4. Does anyone know if Humax are still working on a resolution? It's been 17 months now since the update which appeared to intoduce the problem.

More failed recordings over the weekend. The one I missed above was on BBC4. The program was repeated over the weekend, so, on the same recorder(I have two),I set it up both on SD & HD. The HD one recorded but the SD one did not, with the usual 'program scrambled message'! That's a first, I've never had a failed SD recording. There was another failed to record on BBC3. I know that the programs can be viewed using 'custom firmware', but it really shouldn't be necessary should it?....Anything to do with a re-tune I did last week I wonder?

The problem does seem to be triggered by a retune, no one really knows what causes it. Your best bet is to install the custom firmware and run the 'fixencflags' diagnostic. In most cases this will fix the problem recordings by patching the errors in the HMT file. It only takes a couple of minutes to scan your 'My Video' folder.
Humax could yet surprise us, but as the HDR-FOX stopped being a current model about 2 years ago I doubt that we will get anymore software updates

Thanks for that....Be nice if Humax would surprise us but based on how long the problem has been around, it doesn't seem if a fix from them will happen.

    Hello,
I see that this is a very old thread although my Humax unit from Australia has exhibited the same very issue as reported here. I get the dreaded "This channel is unavailable or scrambled" response. Considering how old this issue now is, did anybody get down and solve it or has everybody simply moved on. I have read all feeds on the net and come up zero. Any word would be fantastic as I can throw it away otherwise and move on.
    Thanks.

As far as I know, there has not been an update from Humax to resolve this. In the dim distant past I read somewhere that we were promised one but I don't think it ever happened.

I don't record much these days from BBC3 & BBC4 but the last HD recordings from BBC4 and BBC3 on my (2) HDRT2's were successful. Both boxes still have the standard firmware i.e. not custom.

Thanks for the reply. This is very poor of Humax, I'm glad they are now defunct.
I suppose I need to find some app that allows me to record a weeks worth of TV, something like Youview you have there in the UK.

I want to add I have tried it all unfortunately to no avail. Tried a different HDMI cable, taken out the hard drive completely deleting all partitions and then reformatting it, also ran chkdisc , no issues or errors found. Then formatting it again in the unit. I have reset the system, again zero. I have tried to re-install the firmware via USB as recommended by Humax, the unit refuses to engage this process. I am at my wits end, I just want to throw it away.
