I'm on the side of those who have overall positive things to say about the HDR-1000S. It's an excellent PVR that outputs superb PQ. The negatives are irritations rather than show-stoppers...
A clicky R/C that has no TV control function (the one supplied with the HB model does).
Stupid UI design points that Freesat have consistently refused to fix.
Stupid bugs introduced by successive s/w updates, which again Freesat don't acknowledge and don't fix.

A clicky R/CYes after years of a Humax 9200T I find it so easy to use the remote even in the dark so I too find the Humax HDR1000S remote control annoyingly clicky.
Overall it has been superb though and I don't have any problems with youtube that others have had - I send you tube stuff from my iPhone and iPad to the hummy - it works a treat. Prefer my Samsung Smart TV App for BBC iPlayer although it works fine on the Hummy.
The new APP for Freesat seems to work well but not really pushed it and found it didn't record things when Hummy was in standby - I need to retry.
The glitch I have is that (like a select few of us) it does not now record, pause, rewind live TV anymore and the fix is a reformat - not the end of the world but will wait a few weeks as everything else is fine with it.
So in summary very good but seems I am unlucky and have caught the "can't pause live TV" disease.
