I just ordered an FVP 5000T from Argos. I did a fair bit of research a while ago, but didn't make a purchase. Then I placed the order the other day and I'm thinking I've messed up and will need to cancel.
My hope was to use the recorder without having to have a TV plugged in. (We have a TV still, lurking on the landing, and not plugged in for a year or two.)
We have an Android tablet on a tablet holder that we can easily reposition, and use it to watch things like iPlayer. The stand makes it easy to raise, lower, and change the angle of the screen, and lets us move it as we move the hospital bed around the room.
The FVP was going to be plugged into power and the aerial socket, in the other corner of the room.
I was expecting to be able to use the Live TV app on the tablet to program what shows we wanted to record, and then play them back at will by casting them from the recorder back to the tablet. If I could also do the same on my phone from a different room, so much the better.
Now I find that on both my Android phone and tablet that the Play Store says the Live TV app is only compatible with older versions of Android.
My phone itself is second hand, and 5 years old, and although I keep it as up to date as I can, this is still a surprise/disappointment given that the FVP 5000 is still available for purchase.
Any suggestions?
Am I going to need to buy a caravan-suitable little telly that I might be able to put in the tablet holder? And likely a different brand of recording device? And mess around with cables to connect the portable TV to the box, in addition to the power cable and aerial cable I was already expecting?
Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.
