Is it possible to put a parental control on the YouTube app, delete it or otherwise disable it?

While there is a setting in the app to block inappropriate content, this doesn't really work very well. While the content looks harmless, you still find videos of gamers swearing and doughnuts getting their avatars to f**k pigs (and chat about what they are doing) in Minecraft. Not really appropriate for young children.

Apart from anything else I want to be able to restrict access.

If there is no way of controlling use/disabling the app, is it possible to SSH into the box and edit the hosts file, so that it doesn't look up YouTube (*.youtube.com 127.0.0.1)?

I think my only other option is the block YouTube at the router, which I don't really want to do.
