Perhaps I was being a bit optomistic today when, hearing the news about the launch of the new BBC, ITV, Channel 4 & 5 streaming service 'BritBox', I looked through the players on my FVP-5000T to find a BritBox player'!

Alas, there wasn't one and no match for a search on the topic here!

So, do we have to wait for Humax to provide one, or is this something that has to come from BritBox themselves? Their website https://www.britbox.co.uk/ says:
"What are the minimum technical requirements to use BritBox?
Operating systems: Windows 7 or later. Android 4.4 or later. Mac OS X 10.9 or later. iOS 9.3 or later.

Supported browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Edge stable version’s under two years old. Safari latest and previous stable major version. Android native."

Can anyone say if a player is likely to appear anytime soon?

I've now emailed both Humax and BritBox to ask.

I'll post here if I get any helpful, or otherwise, response.

BritBox is available on the web, Roku, Chromecast, Apple TV (4th Generation or Airplay to older models), iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.

It's available in the US via Amazon Prime so that will likely be an early way.

A laptop and a chromecast will be one way. Wait for Black Friday.

People were complaining prelaunch that Chromecast was *not* available (yet)?

The first paragraph in my post was from Britbox.

    Search

search "what devices support britbox" on google it brings up a list from britbox.com.

Based upon the Britbox info, it doesn't look as if there's going to be an app on Humax.

    That's a big miss, imho.

We need to be careful here britbox.com is the US service which is similar but different to britbox.co.uk

The UK version will have a Freeview Play "app", accessed on channel 100 and/or the Freeview Play button (depending on your box/TV).

Tune in to Channel 100 to get it? That'll keep it under the radar!

The Channel 100 apps are currently the same as the Players which I take to mean [poshsimon] that you will be able to access the Britbox app on that screen as well. R-

Received a message from Britbox on 4th Jan 2020 after making enquiry about availability on Humax - received this:
The Humax app for Freeview Play should be on your device any day now, keep your eyes peeled
