With an earlier PVR (sorry I can't remember if it was a Humax) I was able to chop off the beginning and end of a recording made the day before leaving just a segment in the middle somewhere. This was so handy when, for example, I'd record a late night Glastonbury compilation, maybe 3 hours long, and next day erase all but the band I wanted to watch and keep for a while. This doesn't appear possible with the 1800T. Will any Humax models allow editing like this?

Will any Humax models allow editing like this? The only HD capable Humax model that will allow editing on the box is the HDR-FOX T2 with the custom firmware installed but they are getting old and reliability issues are getting more frequent. I think your only option with the HDR-1800T is to download the content to a PC (using a method that removes encryption) and do the editing on the PC.
