Tune to CH4-HD. Now use Menu/System/Diagnostics to find signal strength and quality. Most likely is a dish alignment problem but there is another possible solution.

To explain CH4-HD has a few somewhat unique parameters amongst the main stream channels.

Its a high band vertical channel from Eurobird 1 (and the only one in HD and using DVB-S2).

There's not many TV channels up there and you might be missing these as well and just not noticed.

    Examples

    [code]135 CBS Reality 12523 V EB1
    515 Vintage TV 12523 V EB1
    719 Capital FM 12523 V EB1
    720 Choice FM 12523 V EB1
    721 Classic FM 12523 V EB1
    722 Gold 12523 V EB1
    723 XFM London 12523 V EB1
    730 Planet Rock 12523 V EB1
    805 Gems TV 12523 V EB1
    806 TV Shop 12523 V EB1
    817 Rocks & Co 1 12523 V EB1
    818 Gems TV Extra 12523 V EB1
    808 JML DIRECT 12560 V EB1
    809 JML COOKSHOP 12560 V EB1
    143 Men & Movies 12560 V EB1
    401 Wedding TV Asia 12560 V EB1
    816 QVC Beauty 12560 V EB1
    126 CH4 HD 12606 V EB1
    650 Ocean TV 12643 V EB1
    803 Pitch TV 12643 V EB1
    804 Pitch World 12643 V EB1

If you can't view all these then look to your dish/lnb

Many thanks; will try that, although if dish alignment is out I'd have thought that'd also affect BBC & itv HD?

Channel 4 HD is on a different satellite to the BBC and ITV HD channels and is on a low power transponder to limit as far as they can coverage to the UK. This means that it is more susceptible to your satellite dish being slightly mis-aligned.

Very helpful; I've also noticed that signal strength on all channels is c.50%. In your view should it be a lot higher?

CH4 - HD on my foxsat-hdr is 90% signal 90% quality. Channel 999 (the freesat home transponder) gives 100/100. 803 (My worst transponder) is 85/80. All 2D ones are 100/100.

All my Astra channels are about 100% Strength and 95-100% Quality,
I do have lower signal levels on EB1. Quality is more important than strength.
