    Hi all
Im new to the forum, Purchased Humax hdr 1800t 4 months ago. After problem recording, fixed with update. Box has frozen 4 times in last 2 months. Now a number of channels are breaking up on viewing and recording. Done numerous channel scans, tried two different outdoor ariels and manual channel scan as advised by Humax but still poor reception on a few popular channels. No problem with tv channels when arial is put direct into tv. Also, have a second 7 year ols hd digital recorder in dining room with no problems at all using either arial. Can anyone help, Im now sorry I purchased this machine.

Can you check and post if you have channel numbers over 800. Welcome to our forum.

Also put your postcode in here and choose the detailed option.

Post what transmitter is recommended and the indicated reception you should have. Also post how far away you are from the transmitter.

First thing we need to offer any sensible advice is the signal strength and quality reported by the Humax when tuned to the channels with poor quality? Tell us a few of the affected channels?

Thank you both for your replies.

Here goes on the info I have tried to get.
    There are no channels above601
One of the Transmitters is Pontop Pike, which is the one Im on at present. Im ten miles away from that one.

Picture freezing on, (when i go to menu, system, signal quality it comes up as Ch55 or Ch 54) I can`t find an individual Channel check)
    Channel 13 4+1 = Ch55 Strength 86% Quality 100%
    Channel 14 more4 = Ch55 " 86% " 100%
    Channel 15 Film4 = Ch54 " 86% 100%
    Channel 19 Yestday= Ch55 " 86% " 100%
    Channel 33 ITV+1 = Ch54 " 86% " 100%
    Channel 38 Quest+1= Ch55 " 82% " 100%

    Thanks

You won't find an individual channel as a single carrier (55 and 54 above ) carries multiple channels (known as a Mux - short for multiplex).

The numbers look fine. Have you tried a factory reset on the box ?

Certainly you have plenty of signal strength; your problem MAY be too much signal strength overloading the tuners. You could try a variable attenuator in the aerial circuit. Alternatively it might be interference. Is the aerial lead into the box well separated from the HDMI lead out?

    Hi
I did a factory reset last time I did a manual search.
The aerial lead is well away from the HDMI lead out.

Im going to move the Humax box into the Dining Room, to try the other out door aerial tuned to one of the other Transmitters to eliminate any possible problem with the aerial lead from the out door aerial. Ill post back the results in a day or so.
    Thanks

    Hi
Well I`ve set the Humax box up in another room on my second aerial pointing south (Bilsdale) and done an auto scan which has picked up all channels. So far there is no sign of picture breakup. The down side of this is if the Humax box is switched off I cannot watch the tv when source is changed to tv. It receives no channels on scanning, when the Humax is swithed on there is picture but again some breakup on some channels.

It seems no end to this problem.
I`m going to replace the Aerial face plate in the Lounge and try the Humax again in there.
    Thanks

    Good.

You either have not updated the Humax software or have power saving in standby set to on. See Link to thread on new HDR-2000T software.
