I have owned almost all the range of Humax devices with hard drives over the years.
This has meant 3 hard drive replacements on out of Warranty boxes.
I have always used the Seagate Pipeline (Video) Hard Drives as a replacement.
A recent purchase of a CCTV surveillance system came with a Western Digital Purple 2TB Drive which said "The WD Purple surveillance storage is designed for high temperature, always-on, surveillance security systems to ensure reliability and quality video play back when you need it most. "

Wouldn't that be a suitable drive for our Humax Recorders too ?

The requirements for a surveillance drive are subtly different to a PVR drive. Western Digital do supply drives optimised for PVR usage and they have been used by a fair number of people particularly in the Humax satellite boxes. Personally I have a mild preference for the Seagate drives but regard the appropriate Western Digital drives as good alternative.
