    Alas nothing is simple.

My parents have a Foxsat HDR. On a visit I noticed that iPlayer is an option. Onscreen help suggests you connect via homeplugs from Foxsat top router.

I purcgase TP Link homeplugs. Pair homeplugs and connect one homeplug to Foxsat and other homeplug to Thomson router in other room.

Guess what Iplayer not detecting network.

I check network settings on Foxsat via configure ethernet and nothing, all zeros via DHCP.

Next I checked the Thomson router and it can see Foxsat as active device in DHCP table.

Does anyone know what the problem is please? Is it the cables? Looks like standard patch cables as supplied with homeplugs. Should I be using a crossover cable from router to homeplug?

My poor parents don't stand a chance on this one so it's left to me to fix and hopefully with the help of the community

    Bizarre...

Gave up and went to bed. Got up this morning and the freesat has picked up my network without any further intervention from me.

Bit of mystery but at least it's working.
