dtr t2000 front display off

Just got a used dtr t2000 yourview box. It seems to work okay except the front display shows nothing - where the channel is displayed or how long the recorded title has played. is it broken, or can it be switched off by user?

There is no channel display etc on the DTR T2000

Which makes it not a good choice for anyone who wants to use it for radio listening.
