Have a hard disk from my old humax which I use,in a disk carrier to transfer video from one machine to another.
This works fine when I connect to the humax. When I connect to a pc the disk isn't recognised.
I've tried it on win vista and win10 with the same result.

    Also

Is the schedule stored in a file?
If so is it possible to download it to a pc so that it can be replaced after the factory reset?

Appreciate any answers to these questions.

If the disk came out of a Humax PVR the hard disk will be formatted Linux EXT3 which Windows natively does not support if it's a later model than the 9xxxT models.

There is two ways you can read the disk,

Use a EXT2/3 driver for windows.

Make a Linux boot disk or boot USB stick and boot your PC into Linux

Without knowing which actual Humax model it's hard to help further as some models encrypt all recordings others only encrypt HD content.

The ext2fsd sounds a bit dodgy.
Some people have had files corrupted.

    My humax is a foxsat-hdr

The Custom Firmware add on for the Foxsat-HDR allows you to copy all the recording files directly to a PC without having to remove the disk.

On a Foxsat-HDR SD recordings aren't encrypted so can be used externally. Even HD recordings made manually in non-freesat mode (after a boot into non-freesat) aren't encrypted.

Additionally it has the capability to scan and repair the hard disk without losing recordings.

The recording schedule can be saved and restored using the Custom Firmware.

Can you explain how to backup the schedule using the firmware package?

    Thanks

On the Webif Schedule page click on the button at the bottom labelled

    Backup/Restore Scheduled Recordings/Events
