Does anyone know of a way to force my Foxsat HD box (2008 vintage) to output 2 channel PCM optical stereo when watching HD channels. My DAC does not understand 5.1 S/PDIF streams and makes a noise like a motor scooter with a broken exhaust. Turning Dolby off in the menu makes no difference, like I am told it does on the HDR boxes. I have contacted Humax in the past on this and they more or less shrugged their shoulders and said get a surround sound system, of which I am not a fan. I am running the latest (not very recent at Feb 2010) FW and loader. I wondered if there was a hack for this. With the increasing number of HD channels, this is now more of an issue. My current work around is to use my Sony KDL-40W3500 TV as a DAC for HD channels but high quality it isn't.
