My Foxsat HDR (Firmware V1.00.17) continually locks up when using the EPG and needs to be switched off at the back to restore normal operation. These frequent power downs cannot be good for the box. Humax support told me to do a Factory Reset, did that but still no joy. I had no problem with the previous firmware version so I loaded V1.00.15 and as I expect you have already guessed, the box automatically updated the firmware back to V1.00.17.
Is there any way that I can turn off the automatic update feature?

How can I switch off the automatic update?| Thu 28 Jun 2012 20:08:32 #3 | -
There is no way to do this. If in atandby at 03:00 the firmware will auto update.

So, I have to unplug the areal or the power as a hardver switch every night???
I do not want anyone - even Humax - to install anything on my HD-Fox without my confirmation. Especially when the "upgrade" make it even worse than it was before as it does now. (.20->.28)Thanks for the answer anyway

The satellite recorder does not use an aerial to download software but uses a satellite dish instead.
Your "HD Fox" sounds more like Humax's HD-FOX-T2 which can download software via the aerial. The HD-Fox-T2 is not similar to the Foxsat HDR and the installation can be stopped for the HD-Fox-T2 (and the HDR-Fox-T2).
