    Can anyone help with a boot up problem?

    The box shows the startup display, but will go no further.

    Welcome to the Forum

    Possibly a power supply problem. There has been a few reports of similar, and investigations revealed this to be the cause (bulging capacitors)

    A couple of places sell repair kits:

    I am having this exact problem now. Is this a good fix? I am a bit reluctant to take apart the box and start replacing electronic parts, any more thoughts out there?

    Very simple and cheap repair. The symptom is the rotating snake display on the front of the box permanently displayed while attempting to boot. Similar problems were found on Topfield freeview pvrs and Thomson Sky boxes.

    Are there visible signs when you open the box up what the problem is? I might take out the wrong component!

    The 2 offending capacitors are marked C12 and C13 and usually have a marked bulge in the case. The larger ones shown here

    Ok so I have put the software on my stick. Its called foxsatupgrade.hdf or something, plugged it into my USB port switched off and on again and nothing happened. Can someone advise? Here's the extract from website;

    My first step was to update the firmware and bootloader via the USB port on the back of the Humax Box. The firmware is available on the humax website

    A simple process (the USB port is on the rear of the foxsat HD, under the ethernet port), put the firmware on a USB stick, rename it, attach the stick to the Humax Foxsat and press and hold the power button.

    What software have you got already on your box. Menu/System/Diagnostics, if you can remember ?. You most likely already have the latest anyway and the faulty power supply will likely stop you updating anyway. The problem isn't software related though you should update if not up to date, but will need to fix the power supply first.
