Occasionally my 5000T freezes when I've left it to change to cable and then come back to it. The remote does nothing. I have to disconnect it and let it boot up again, sometimes it takes two attempts.

In all I think it isn't as good as my old 2000T

I've had a response from Humax.

Must be a frequent occurance, as they didn't even bother to address it personally.

This is exactly as it appears in the e-mail.

    Hi [Insert Customer Name],

Thank you for contacting Humax, I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're experiencing with your Humax equipment.

Can you try the steps below please?

On your remote, press and hold "0" and "OK" for roughly 8 -10 seconds
You will get a message on screen asking to press a number between 1 - 6
Press a number such as 3. The message will say remote now set to number 3 and disappear.

    Best Regards,

If it doesn't work I'll come back to this thread.

I just searched for Humax and freezing and found nothing.

    Before starting a new topic.

    I didn't search for:-

    Multi Code function HD/HDR remote

I think the theory is that possibly the Virgin or other remote is changing the Humax default infra red remote from it's default of mode 1 to one of the other 5.

The procedure lines up the box and remote to the same mode.

I have seen this before on the other Humax units that support control mode 1-6.

In those cases it was more obvious because the remote started controlling the wrong Humax unit. If you only have the one unit it would just appear to stop working.

I've now got both boxes working under my TV.
Since changing the signal on the remote for the FVP, the two remotes only work their dedicated boxes.

I'm now using my 2000T just for recording programmes that I intend saving, as you can put them into individual files, i.e. complete drama series, sport, film noir. etc.,
The FVP just sticks everything in one file, which is a retrograde step in my opinion.
