    The option to re-scan for Freeview channels is greyed out and therefore not available.
    This is a problem because of the recent channel number changes means that some channels have disappeared.

    How can I overcome the problem and re-scan the channels?

    Was the box recording or within 15 minutes of the start of a recording? If so various options will be disabled for the duration of the recording. If it wasn't then put the box into standby, wait for the hard drive to stop spinning and then turn off the power. Leave it off for 10 seconds and then restart the box and see if you can access the re-scan menu.
