I bought my Humax FVP-5000T 2TB Smart Freeview Play HD TV Recorder direct from Humax in 2018.
It is completely dead. I phoned Humax technical support and they told me that they could not do anything with it and all the saved programmes could not be retrieved.
    Can anyone please advise

    Hi, I'm afraid its not good news. I have a 500t 2tb.
It's also playing up. I'm also expecting it to go bang as it's become very unreliable on the recordings with a power dropout, and some recordings lasting just 1 minute, and the stopping. With no warning on the recording emblem.
Also on the recordings that do make it to the end.
The picture Disappears for an instant, then returns.
It's not the tv as its fine with everything else.
I think you'll find that this model was discontinued in 2020.
It seems that Humax are only willing to produce the Aura box.
The tuners in this box is so sensitive.
It seems that unless you have a signal strength between 85- 90 percent.
Anything higher, or lower gives you a picture break up.
unlike the 5000t, and all tv Freeview tuners on any TV.
Which means you have to mess about with the arial signals, with attenuators.
Even then it's hit and miss.
I know I've even had arial riggers in to try it, to no avail.
The Aura seems to be full of other problems that Humax has no answer for.
As we are on the outer limits of the Heathfield transmitter. After 3 attempts trying to get the aura to work.
On the phone with Humax, they asked me for our postcode (which i gave them)
That was met with a long silence , followed by an O Dear. During which I explained that Both of our Tv's don't have any hint of a signal problem.
He finally said We haven't a clue what's causing it.
So we returned it for the third time, and got a refund.
It seems that Humax (which we've used for so many years have given up.
As they have stopped issuing updates on the Aura.
We are just waiting for our 5000t to pack up.as the aura for us is unusable.
We are going to buy the new Manhattan T4R with 2 TB storage.
the only downside is It only has 2 tuners, and not 3.
However it does everything the Humax Does but much better including the the interface.
If I was you I'd check it out(and cut your losses) as its cheaper to buy & run.
get actual replies to any Questions usually within 24hrs of asking.
For example. I asked them about the loop through to the TV tuners when in standby.
The reply email told me that as it's a brand new product.
It was shipped with the Version V1.04.
On the 5th July they rolled out V1.05. to sort out some issues.
Finally they advised ne that within the next 5-10 days, they are rolling outV1.06
This has been tested, and will connect the loop through, Whilst in standby on smart mode. Or just sleep.
From what I can work out that anything that's accidently deleted can be restored.
This is held in the trash can for 30 days space permitting.
This is the customer support you used to get from Humax.
What a shame such a good company has gone to the dogs.
I hope this has helped soften the bad news, as your 5000t is just Knackered.
I'm just a Humax customer since 2000 trying to get the best system for us.
Apparently although the T4R is made in China Manhattan is an English company .
They actually Design and operate in the UK. for the Uk Only.
Which would explain the Useful, and frank replies with all the information you want.Good Luck I hope all goes well for you

Hi, you say your FVP 5000 is dead, do you get the red light when it's plugged in or no lights at all?
