My brand new - doubly so, since I sent the first one back - FVP-5000Tdoes does not power down in standby; even in power save mode.

The hard disc is on permanently. I also notice that the antenna connection seems to get remarkably hot; when in operating mode.

    Are both these issues normal?

I would add that I sent the first box back because it seemed to be getting inordinately hot. The new one, in standby, is simply warm. It does, however, seem odd to me that it should be getting warm at all in standby, and that the hard disc should turn continually.

Otherwise, in terms of viewing and recording, it seems to be working perfectly.

Do you have the network server enabled? This will, I think, keep the box in a half awake state with the hard drive spinning during the active hours.

    Hi Martin,

Your suggestion seems to have worked a treat.

    All peace and quiet now!

    Thank you.
