I'm looking for some advice resolving a cec/arc hdmi problem.

My system includes a Sony kdl42w829b tv, a Sony ht rt5 sound bar, a ps3 and the Humax hdr 2000t.

If I connect the Sony kit together using hdmi (with arc/cec enabled) then everything is fine.

As soon as I add the humax everything goes haywire. The sound bar is no longer recognised and the audio drops.

I've read elsewhere that this is due to a lack of any sort of cec capability on the humax and that the fix is to buy an adaptor which effectively blocks pin13 (which carries the cec signal).

    Would this solve the problem?

You got it the wrong way around. The Humax does have CEC support, which creates the issue. The adaptor effectively disables cec on the box (there is no menu option to disable it), so should resolve the problem without having to turn off cec on the TV.

Thank you Graham. I think it may have even been a post of yours over on avforums that I read (obviously not thoroughly enough). Hopefully this adapter should do the trick.
