No, just a normal superhub. It's not the hub that's the problem, I assume it has something to do with the last update because I never had a problem before that plus the fact that I'm obviously not alone in having the exact same issues and I can send showcase and on demand information to watch on my box via my smartphone app so that confirms that my box does have broadband connection.

It's not in doubt the problem arises from either the update or the change to Showcase (or possibly both). The problem is that not everyone is affected. One possible problem was the make and model of the router as we both have the same router and you have problems and I do not it looks like the router make and type could be a red herring.

As Freesat puts it, in the affected cases the 1000S seems to "forget" that it has a live connection. There's a known situation in which the Superhub can "forget" a live connection, but that only manifests if the connection has been idle for a while, and it obviously isn't the case here since the connection continues to function for other calls, e.g. Ch 901.

So I tend to agree that the router make and type could be a red herring, but what about router settings? Is that a possibility?

Interesting idea. My HDR1000S along with all other kit has a reserved address allocated to the kit MAC address. Could it be as simple as that ?

Probably not. Mine doesn't, but works ok.

Correction. I should check before I speak. It does indeed have a reserved address. "Always use the same IP address = Yes"

Can't at all remember doing that, but there it is. This looks promising!

Just been reading some of the recent posts to see whether any progress had been made and I am starting to think that the 'consumer product' that I thought I was buying is really either an electronics diy kit or an iq test.

What is this stuff about 'pairing', there's no mention of it in my handbook? So I loaded the Freesat app to my tablet and it said I needed a freesat id. When I tried to access my freesat ID my HDR1000s told me it was unable to access freesat ID and that I would need an internet connection for this. So back to square one - half the box thinks I have a connection the other half is sure that I don't. Surely this is a certain indication that our boxes are suffering from schizophrenia or split personality.

You need a Freesat ID in order to set recordings remotely, but you should be able to use the app as a remote control without logging in, assuming your phone and the 1000S are both connected to your home network.

Strange because I just downloaded the app and didn't have a problem getting my 6 digit pairing ID.

Did you register the APP first ? I had to register my details onto the APP and then pair to my box.

tonegee - Interested that you could get the new showcase with the new software but cannot any longer.

Have you tried again selecting "connect automatically" from the system network settings and perhaps a later reboot.

Yes I have tried to connect automatically from the system settings but no joy. I turn my box of at the mains every night so my box gets a fresh reboot every day and has done for the past 18 months.
