I am having to replace a Sony Freeview pvr/DVD recorder which had extensive recording options from multiple sources that I had plugged into the back. From all my reading, I believe the above box will only record from its tuners (or copy from a usb/sd card). Secondly, does the unit need to "register" an externally connected usb HDD before it can play video files (as the newest panasonics seem to do)and will it play DVD .vob files and .iso disc images of movies?
Any help/advice (or even abuse!!! - only joking) in clarifying its capabilities will be much appreciated.
Thanks Enigmabg

No. You can transfer files to the internal disk using an FTP client.

Thanks for your prompt reply.
I shall explore the ftp client transfer route after purchasing and perhaps contact you again to help me through the learning period!
Although I have a panasonic tv, with the obvious benefit of being able to use a common remote, it looks as though the FoxT2 is the way to go.
Pity about not being able to record from other sources, though - I found it a useful, though infrequently used function.

Have lots of patience and dont assume it will always record
Considering size of market it amazing they have it to themselves.Good thing is not having to pay my hard earned cash
