The partition on the HDR-1000S is a partition reserved for all user files not just music - it is on an unencrypted partition.

No way I have seen to change it's size, within the HDR-1000S anyway.

Thanks for clarifying this although perhaps that should be mentioned before someone makes use of that option.

Which option ? I don't know of anything in the menus that offers that option.

Graham - I must have been able to split a partition off somehow for media files from the HDR's menu - not being in front of the machine I cannot remember how I managed to do this. What I meant was that if you cannot reverse this why provide the option in the menu? Anyway, my Hd capacity now seems to be permanently reduced to about 200gb instead of the original 250gb.

    Thanks

    Martin

Pretty sure there's no such option anywhere on my HDR1000S, which incidentally has a 2TB hard drive. If you can find the option please post how you managed this.

I guess it's possible you may have found another hidden (secret) menu that no one else has yet found.

Graham - I have looked through the menu but as you say there seems to be no option like this. I can say that the box is in its original condition and no hack or similar has been applied. I attach a photo showing the "Reserved Size" on the HD. I am certain that I was able to set the reserved size and it must have been an option at the time when I got the box more than a year or two ago. I used to have music uploaded on it. I have now tried several times to get rid of this but never managed.

    Thanks

    Martin

Interesting, did you try a disk format ? I see you haven't got many recordings. I can't remember what the figures were when I originally had the box (It had a 500GB drive).

    One for Barry methinks

Yes, I both tried formatting and disk cleaning (that's why I have no recordings) but to no avail.

Clutching at straws, what software version is on the box ? If I remember correctly the very early software versions did indicate a large figure for reserved disk space.
