My new Humax HDR-Fox T2 can access the internet (ie can use TV Portal) but when I select Media > Storage > Network it sees only the router and not either of the PCs on our network ie there is a blue row saying "o2 wireless box" but nothing else

    Our setup:
•Router = o2wireless box with a D-Link homeplug connected to one of its ports
•Humax HDR-Fox T2 is connected to the network via another D-Link Homeplug
•Laptop running Vista connects to the network wirelessly
    •Desktop running Windows 7 connects via a 3rd D-Link homeplug
•The laptop and desktop can view each others files fine

    Things I have tried
•updating software on Humax (it now has FHTCP 1.02.20)
•switching firewall off on one of the PCs
•taking desktop off the network so the Humax is the only device
•checked that on the router UPnP is enabled
•checked "media sharing" is enabled on the PC (eg in Vista PC: Control Panel > Network & Sharing Centre: media sharing is on (also in Windows Media Player looked at Tools > Options > Configure sharing > … but the Humax isn't showing; on the Windows 7 PC I set up a Homegroup)
•On the Humax in Menu > Settings > System > Internet Settings > Configure LAN I turned Content Share On and FTP Server On (I don't think this was needed for Humax to be able to see the PCs … but I tried it anyway). By the way in this screen it does confirm "LAN Network connected"

I emailed Humax support a few times but their answers were very brief and missed the point I think. Hoping someone can help!

Sounds like you have done the obvious things. What qre the IP addresses of the laptop and the Humax? Can you ping the Humax from the laptop?

Forget the Homegroup - you need standard shares on a Windows 7 PC.

I would suggest that you firstly get the two PC's to see each other. They will only appear on the network if they actually have shared content (this is different from enabling the sharing infrastucture)- try sharing a folder. Remember that with shares on a NTFS volume - both share and NTFS file permissions operate.
If you want the T2 to see a share the "Everyone" permission must allow it.
