I have myself 2 Humax products, the older PVR 9200T and the later HDR Freeview. They work prefectly.

I bought a FreeSAT HDR for my daughter. It has been nothing but trouble. Picture freezing/jumping about, etc - totally unwatchable.
Has been repaired by Humax twice in only 5 months.

My daughter tells me it is playing up again. On the last 2 occasions I connected the old Sky box and it behaved as it should.

Whilst waiting for unit to be collected for the third time I thought I would write and complain to the service manager as my emails to service department are being ignored.

Can anyone please tell me the right postal address for the Humax Aftersales Service Manager?

    thanks

Puzzled, why has it been for repair, and not swapped out - remembering your retailer is the one ultimately responsible during the first 12 Months.

    Who is arranging the repairs?

I bought the recorder from HumaxDirect. It was a manager's special - now I know why!

The recorder has been collected by a courier arranged by Humax, repaired by one or more of their agents and returned to me by the same courier. Very fast the first time, very slow the second time.
Now it had gone wrong yet again!

Recorder works OK for a few days and then the fault starts up. Can get a temporary improvement if I reboot it.
The fault has been similar in all 3 cases - picture freezing / jumping. Have no problem with old Sky box when connected to the same source / connectors. Signal strength very good in all cases.

Trying to get a response to my complaint about the quality of repairs by email has got me nowhere.

Decided to write a letter but Humax have a number of postal addresses on their website(s).
I want to send my letter of complaint to go to the right address; I don’t want to give them an excuse for not replying.

You're not the only person having difficulties with HumaxDirect, however the quality of the product shouldn't be any different.

Before you send it back it'd be worthwhile checking which software version it has on it as Humax have very recently (last week or two) released a newer version which sounds as if it'll address the problems with the box:

    Micom version: 7.36
    System id: 3768 0000
    Update Date: 10 Mar 2012

    - Resolved rebooting issue relating to bad sectors on the HDD
    - Hang-up improvements

I can't speak for HumaxDirect and their poor customer service, but maybe they just can't be bothered and are waiting for the customers to gradually find their way to forums like this and firmware updates.

If you do put the new firmware on and you haven't many recorded/saved programmes then I'd advise reformatting the hard-drive particularly as the new firmware addresses HDD bad sector issues.
