I've been using BT Youview boxes for years. Appears to be dying so I dropped £279 to argos on a Humax box.
Doesn't work properly. Recordings don't work properly. Playback Stutters and fails.
Tried to return it to argos, they said "It's been used, we can't take it back" .. "OBVIOUSLY it's been used, how else would I know it doesn't work properly and try to return it?"
In HOPE for it to work, Received an email about how to update it.
Loads of steps, tried it loads of times, never worked, update never worked.
There must be an easier way to do updates (on Youview machines ya just clicked "check for updates")

I've followed every single instruction and it still doesn't update

Did you register the box with Humax and in doing so get the free extended 2 year warranty?. If you did then you should be asking them to take it back not Argos. Also it would help if you bothered to tell us which Humax product you bought. I will assume it is an Aura, some people are getting issues with some Com5 channels and some others with ITVsd. Updating is not so difficult, what were you told to do and by who?

Be wary of using Humax to replace your Aura 2TB. Although Humax is the manufacturer your rights for the Consumer Rights Act is with Argos, and potentially the credit card company if you used one. For the purposes of the Consumer Rights ACT Humax is a "third party" and if they were to replace your Aura with a refurbished, or new Aura, that would invalidate your rights under Consumer Rights Act, unless you have Humax's invovlment approved by Argos.

Hopefully, Argos's refusal was just a misunderstanding and they were thinking that you had just changed your mind, or hadn't checked whether or not you had a working aerial. It may be worth while to go back to Argos and politely explain.
