Hi, I have had the same intermittent problem using a Triax Tri-Link connected via 2 x coax cables to two remote TVs via a passthrough compatible rf amplifier. The picture on the two connected TVs is sometimes ok but then intermittently flashes between excellent picture to white noise. I am now on my 3rd Triax- Tri-Link , the first one went faulty after about 12 months, the second one lasted about a month and the latest one now exhibits the same problem after about 2 weeks use. If you look on reviews on the Amazon Uk website you will realise that we are not alone. By the way I do use the Rf Aerial signal and this is always ok. It is just the modulation of the Triax box that fails!! I have now given up with the Triax product and returned the third one for a refund. I have now installed an alternative product with exactly the same functionality as the Triax product. It is a Labgear DigiLink MRX700. Available from Amazon Uk It is not physically as solid as the Triax product but so far it works!

Intermittent signal via Triax

That's interesting. I use the HDMI link from the Humax box direct to the first TV and only run through the Triax for the second one so at least I know the problem is probably not with the Humax itself. When I first had this trouble I bought another Triax but, after a couple of weeks, had the same problem. Graham suggested it might be the connections and I still plan to replace the Fs; currently it's OK - the delights of trying to cure an intermittent fault!

Ah, now that I haven't checked - I'm usually distracted by the picture flashing to and from white noise with deafening effect! Will do this next time it plays up.

Will do this next time it plays up.If the red light is on, the issue is more than likely be down to an intermittent internal fault in the eye itself or the connection from the eye to the TV. Magic Eyes are cheap enough, I would be inclined to swap it for a new one.

Hi, i am not an expert in this field but doesn't the Magic Eye only transmit command signals back to the Humax box? on my set up I have two coax cables connected by an amplifier with bypass to 2 TVs in different rooms. The main TV is connected locally via HDMI and the picture via HDMI never fails to be fine. When the Triax fails to modulate the scart signal from the Humax box correctly then the signal degenerates/fails to both remotely connected TVS but both the Magic Eyes still transmit command signals to the Humax box. It is just the received modulated signal that becomes intermittent i.e. white noise and snow then perfect picture and sound. Apart from the Triax the other cabling etc. worked fine with two different Sky boxes for several years.I still blame the Triax unit but will report back when i have more experience with the Labgear DigiLink MRX700.

If it continues to work it must be receiving power therefore the coax cable from rf2 out must be intact, any break would stop DC power transfer. This leaves the connection from the eye to the TV or an internal intermittent connection inside the eye as a possible cause of the loss of channels. If Tallen had an aerial connected and still could watch Freeview then the Tri-Link modulstor would be the most likely issue. He hasn't so no way of knowing other than removing the eye (as already suggested). Just moving the eye could have reconnected it.

Thanks. In my case I do have an aerial connected and the Freeview signal to both remote TVs never fails, it is only the modulated signal via the Triax that becomes intermittent. But please don't let me distract you.

Back again with the same problem, having replaced/remade the F connections. I did look at the Amazon review page as suggested by JohnRD and the problems I have are identical; i.e. the intermittent signal clears up after a few minutes and because I am usually fiddling about with the connections during that time I am mislead into thinking I have actually done anything. I'm inclined to the view that the modulator is the problem and I've looked at the Labgear MRX 700 which JohnRD has. Any more news on this? I can't work out if it includes the 'magic eye'. Would it work with the Triax one?

Appears to work with any Magic Eye (aka Skylink) make in much the same way as the trilink unit. They all do the same job. It also has the three rf connections (I assume 1 in and two out).
